A legend embodies passion. A legend has depth, character and integrity. A legend is adored by many, worshipped by some, and respected by all.

A legend changes the way you live, inspires and frees you. A legend waits until the moment comes when you call upon it to shape your future. Until the moment you decide: LET'S RIDE!

BREAKFAST RUN TO THE WINDMILL (JASMYN), HARTBEESPOORT
21st February 2010

Arriving at the Dealership on Sunday morning I had a charged moment of angst, of déjà vu!  So many petite little Thai ladies handing out pamphlets for discounted Thai massage.

The thought did enter my head to keep on riding passed at this stage, having only just managed to walk normally this week.  A couple of guys had obviously not read the non-Breakfast Run Report from the previous week and were being voluntarily “hog thai’d” to the torture rack before being gently pummeled on the back and shoulders by the lovely delicate ladies from Thailand.  Remember, you take up the discount offer and you get a suma wrestler!!!

I also had a quick thought that here was a really good chance to get even with Geoff and “spoil” him with a traditional Thai massage, just like the one he gave me for Valentine’s Day.  Unfortunately, only petite pretty Thai ladies were available and not a Suma wrestler in sight.  So I decided to shelve this idea for another “special” day, like his birthday next month!  But I digress :

A surprising 52 bikes arrived for the Breakfast Run this morning.  The route was down South Road and left into Bowling, then under the freeway and right into Witkoppen. A left at Woodmead onto the Kyalami Road (hope you all smiled for the metro cops at the one stop photo shop along this section of road) and then all the way to Midrand and a left into Summit Road. A right onto William Nicol at Diepsloot and then across the freeway and a left onto the R511 and over the mountain into Harties and the venue.  A total of 72 km’s and many potholes to dodge, adding to the adventure (well, for some of us anyhow).  I am pleased to say that it was an incident free morning of great riding in the country.  I am also pleased to say that the marshalls’ presentation of the route to the masses this morning definitely brought HOG into the 21st century. Well done guys – hope the other marshall teams raise themselves to your level.

The Windmill was buzzing, so service for some of us was a little slow, but worth the wait.  The large shop outside selling veggies and Dutch cheeses was doing a roaring trade.  All the bikes were parked on the grassy area and were a continual source of delight and amazement for the many patrons who continued to arrive in droves.  A number of very pretty “here comes trouble in  push-up bra’s” were noticed and duly ogled by everyone. A couple of people at the venue had eyes looking like the aurora borealis  - not sure if this was from the night before’s entertaining, or from the ogling of the pretty young things?  A few “oomph-oomph-oomph’s” turned up in the parking area but did not appear to stay long.  They either blew their speakers while trying to impress the unimpressionables, or were told in no uncertain terms that they were at the wrong venue and to oomph-oomph out of there, which they did at warp speed.

The Breakfast Run this coming weekend is to The Springbok Bar (formerly the Foundry Fly).  Let’s support them in large numbers as this was the arranged destination of choice from last week before it was cancelled due to “fowl” weather and others “chickening out” as mentioned by Dennis.  Let’s hope this coming week it doesn’t rain “cats and dogs” and Dennis has to “hound” us again for another venue.

Remember to support your HOG Chapter and Club and turn out in numbers for the AGM on Tuesday night.

Ride hard and ride safe until we meet in the saddle again next weekend!

PS:  My friend’s wife had plastic surgery.  Her husband cut up all her credit cards!
PPS: My grandmother used to take my mother to the circus to see the fat lady and the tattooed man.  Now they’re everywhere!
