BREAKFAST RUN TO THE NEWS CAFÉ,
TOWN SQUARE CENTRE, CONSTANTIA
28th March 2010
After a very full day of fun and activities at the Dealership attending the Mini Carnival, New Owners and Hog Nite on Saturday, it was with some amazement that we saw 30 eager bikers still turning up for the breakfast run on Sunday. Kudo’s to you all. We were surprised to hear that there was an American guest, and a camera crew apparently filming and recording events of this Breakfast Run for the Discovery Channel too. Had we been informed of this beforehand, I am sure there would have been 150 leather clad bikers on this Breakfast Run all with polished badges, washed hair and painted nails, all eager to show off their prized shiny chrome steeds and club patches.
The ride went down Rivonia, into Summit Road; then into Bryanston Road and then right into William Nicol. A left into Witkoppen Road and a quick right into Cedar and through Chartwell to the T-junction. Then the pack rode passed the Lion Park and crossed the Lanseria road and carried on towards Muldersdrift. A short burst on the N14 and then left into Hendrick Potgieter at the 4 way junction. The route then continued down Hendrik Potgieter passed Little Falls and Ruimsig before a left turn into Albert Road and again left into the venue. A grand total of 52 enjoyable kilometres. The weather was overcast, but warm. The traffic - not too bad!
It was really nice to see so many new owners on this ride. The Biker Buddies who turned up for duty were Lyn, Leandri and Peter.
Pacesetter - Karl T
Leader of the Pack - Dennis D
Sweep - Dean W
Our faithful friendly “Marshall Farrell” did his “Pied Piper routine” and got lost along the route with a few members of the pack following obediently behind him. Farrell will be receiving a free GPS for his next duty - a piece of paper with the route mapped out and stuck to his petrol tank with Prestick. There was plenty of parking outside the venue, always a big bonus. Breakfasts could be ordered off the menu and the service for most was really good. The food arrived at the tables nice and hot. It was good to sit outside in the sunshine and just chill with friends for a change. Our Photographer definitely needed to sit down and chill out. He arrived at the dealership as usual, but soon realized that he was minus his camera???? Obviously he partied too hard at Hog Nite! He raced home as the pack left for their outride and joined us along the road, hoping to redeem himself somewhat.
NB : Please guys - keep checking your mirrors. They really aren’t there for decoration on your bikes. The Marshalls do such a great job of getting the pack to the venues safely each week. Let’s all help them out by checking our mirrors frequently and moving over to the left hand side of the road (when it’s safe to do so and after you have indicated to the bikers behind you of your intention to change your position in the pack) - so as to allow safe passage for the Marshalls trying to get to the head of the pack again for your benefit. This is really important, yet a lot of riders are still endangering the lives of the Marshalls by not moving over at all. Thanks to all the Marshalls for showing such patience on these rides.
….and that’s all I have to say this week. Here’s hoping we see many more of you on the next fun breakfast outing.

PS: In the old days, it was called voodoo and you used to stick needles into a doll. Now it’s called acupuncture and you just stick them straight into the person!
PPS: There must be something to acupuncture, I mean, you never see any sick porcupines!
