BREAKFAST RUN 27 JUNE 2010
Those who love Harley's deeply never grow old; they may die of old age, but they die young.
And so we continue our story of the youngsters that joined our Breakfast run this winters morning. (I want a Brownie badge for this quote)
Numbers were down a little to 36 bikes. Two new owners, one being Bridget on her shiny new Dyna Super Glide. Nervous of doing her first big pack ride, Chris R kept a watchful eye over her as she negotiated the ride of 49km to Modderfontein, Halfway House, Kyalami and finally to Fourways, Pineslopes Centre where we converged on 'Saint Verde' restaurant/Café'
A short but pleasant ride with Kevin Knight setting the pace, Dennis and Dot leading the pack and Johan Prinsloo as sweep. Johan had volunteered to take a pillion not knowing that the gent was about 7 foot tall. He towered over Johan and the windscreen but all was well executed in the end. Nice work Johan.
Well done to our three trainee Marshal's, Nikki, Nick and Pieter P. (or Pietertjie) Nice riding guy's and girl.
Our host at 'Saint Verde' was John, a retired Jockey due to a bad fall. He is literally held together with pins and screws. He says running a Restaurant is far safer (he has not seen disgruntled Harley dudes when the service or the food is bad) Fortunately for John, both the service and food was great so he escaped further injury. (Yes, I know we waited a bit for the food but generally one doesn't get 45 hungry people all shouting orders at once so I thought they did very well. If you have complaints about my observation then call me on 0800EATMYSHORTS) I recommend you pay them a visit with the wife and kids or if you are an old fart, with your wife and great Grand Kids.
We look forward to seeing more new owners and our regular bunch on winter rides.
Ride safely
Chris S.
