Blue skies with temperatures climbing to 28 degrees was a perfect reason to saddle up and harness the beast that makes all Harley riders stand out from the rest. Thirty Harley's left the Dealership with Carl Tameris setting the pace and Dennis and Dot, the birthday girl, leading the pack. Dean and Lynn were acting as 'Sweep'. Marshal's and Biker Buddies all accounted for.
The final destination was Nino's in Midrand. On route down South Road the pack was split due to traffic lights on Rivonia, Steel Wings, who were having their own Breakfast run, slipped between us down South but turned right into Bowling where we turned left. Geoff Bosman, who had Marshaled the Rivoinia intersection was speeding to join up with the front section of the pack mistakenly followed the Steel Wings group. What happened after that I have no idea but it sure gave me a good laugh at the comic possibilities.
We later found Geoff on Old Johannesburg Road Marshaling an intersection. Good recovery Geoff. The route took us through Midrand, past Tembisa, through Olifantsfontein into Irene. Once again we joined up onto the Old Johannesburg Road back tracking into Midrand where we turned right onto New Road.
I am unable to say what happened next, some bikes turned right, Al Clegg went straight, then a group of us did circles around a block, I stopped to Marshal a T-Junction but no one was behind me. It took a News Paper vendor to tell me where all the bikes had gone. Simply said, I think we ran out of Marshal's. (Spoken by a true lost Marshal)
The food and service was good at Nino's, thanks to Tanya for organizing this venue. There is always something to laugh about after a breakfast run, so come an join us at the next one, meet new friends and have a laugh, it makes the week ahead so much nicer.
Take care and be safe.
Chris.
