BREAKFAST RUN “THE GATHERING OF THE CHAPTERS 2009” TO THE RUSTIC THEATRE ON MAIN IN LONEHILL
6th December 2009
What a great way to celebrate the last Breakfast Run of the Year. Blue skies, 42 bikes and lots of country roads to ride on (64.8 kms). It did seem a lot longer than this. A great turn out for the Breakfast Club. Kudo’s to all of you that made the effort. It’s been a long and tiring year for most and to end it off with a great ride to a nice venue with an even more stunning band to listen to, was just perfect. A few members from the Clearwater Chapter and many more from the Pretoria Chapter attended as well.
Pace Setter : André
Leader of the Pack : Shaun
Sweep : Eddie
Biker Buddies : Lyn, Richard B, “Biker Buddy of the Year – Mike” and Mauritz
The route went something like this – South Road, Marlborough, N3, London Road off-ramp, Bapsfontein Road, Old Pretoria Road (a couple of times), Olifantsfontein, R562, Old Pretoria Road (I told you), R562, R55, Main Road – and into the venue. A really nice ride!
An entrance fee of R40,00 per person was paid willingly by all in order to listen to the superb and much loved band “Cunning Brad” who is sure to entertain and enthrall every time. Then in the afternoon we were entertained by Dr. Victor and the Rasta Rebels. Not many bikers and their families succumbed to the R120,00 per person buffet lunch, but most preferred to choose something off the Ala Carte Menu instead. However, many complaints were heard about the Cajun Chicken and Avocado Salad which consisted of a whole lettuce on your plate, garnished with a slice of tomato, a slice of avocado and … we are still searching for the Cajun chicken? I found a piece of pan fried chicken the size of a R1,00 coin in amongst all that lettuce. I have now decided that I am never making “the healthier eating option” ever again. I should have joined the men with their “Steak, Eggs and Chips” and “Monkey Gland Burgers” which they all raved about. It was great to be able to sit in the sun and just “chill” with good friends again, an activity we all, no doubt, are looking forward to repeating early next year when the Breakfast Club starts up again and does its sterling work to make these Sunday rides happen.
Thanks to all the Biker Buddies who pitched in today, as well as to all the Marshalls for getting us to the venue in an orderly and safe manner once again.
Until next year, ride hard and ride safe and enjoy the festivities wherever you may be during this silly season.
Over and Out from the Editor’s desk.

PS: Give a man a fish and he has food for a day – teach him how to fish and you get rid of him for the entire weekend!
