BREAKFAST RUN TO NEWS CAFÉ, FOURWAYS
31st January 2010
Another heavily overcast grey sky – another Sunday Breakfast Run! The real surprise was the number of bikers who turned up today. Thirty One (31) !!!! Even the dull and miserable weather could not keep them away from the relaxing 82 km highway run. Radio warnings about the waterlogged roads the whole week must have played a part in choosing the highways again. However, that said, the roads did not appear to be waterlogged and had obviously dried out, unlike a number of you who had attended the first Hog Night of the year! The effects of a very good party were still clearly visible, unlike the perceived damage done to some of our roads. Eyes like multi-coloured garmin road maps, and some of you even admitted to still hearing loud noises in your heads, and it wasn’t coming from the bikes either.
Leader of the Pack – Dennis
Pacesetter – Eddie
Sweep – Vince
Biker Buddies on Duty – Leandri, Mo, Terry and Lyn
The route went down South Road (but I bet you knew that?) N3 – N12 around Alberton, onto the N1 and then off at Beyers Naude, right into Northumberland and left into Cedar. Another right into the Fourways Shopping Centre and another right into the Complex and the venue. News Café had set one very long table for breakfast. Breakfast could be ordered off the menu. Everyone arrived in high spirits and I reckon that “spirits” played a big part in the “road map” eyes.
The pack kept their formation and rode quite tightly – well done to all of you!
Kudo’s to Marshall Eddie for making one woman’s dreams come true. For more information check out the photographs.
Well, it seems like the weather heard our complaints and has sorted itself out for a while. Long may this riding weather last. Bring on the next Breakfast Run and fun.
Until next weekend, ride hard and ride safe.
Lyn
