BREAKFAST RUN TO THE PISTON RING CLUB, MODDERFONTEIN
21st March 2010
And we thought there were a lot of people away for the long week end? Surprise, surprise! 45 bikes left the dealership for a 97 km run via Benoni to Modderfontien. An awesome day for riding the Harley. Blue skies and no wind. Dennis and Dot set the pace while Al led the pack. Chris R was sweep. Our final destination was the Piston Ring Club where petrol heads and collectors of old and new vehicles came together to display their pride and joy. Cars and bikes from the early 1900's to 2010. From Mini's to Jaguar's, Ford to Datsun and many other makes.
The show had food stalls for the hungry and a beer tent… which I never found. The parking was terrible to say the least. We had to each fight for a place to park our bikes. When returning to my bike a rather rude dude was threatening to ride over our bikes if we didn't move them. I tried to explain that the organizers had told us to park there, but he was not interested in listening. Under the circumstances I don't believe we will return next year. Perhaps individually, but definitely not in pack form.
Wrapping up, a great ride with great folks once again. Winter months are coming so get in the last few warm rides in the next few weeks.
Ride safe, see you next run.
