THE CHEF AND THE FAT MAN
Sunday 2 August
A fine day to get out on the Harley's for a Lunch Run. Blue skies and
temperatures above 18 degrees. 37 bikes (45 people) arrived for the 97km
ride to 'The Chef and the Fat man' in Centurion arranged by Bazil Dakes.
Road Captain for the day was Karl Tameris, who set the pace, Mike Kylie
led the pack, Rick Bennet and Bazil Dakes were Biker buddies and
Vince 'The Prince' was sweep.
The planned route took us down Rivonia, left onto Bryanston Drive, right onto
Main, left onto Witkoppen, right onto Cedar past Dainfern all the way past
Lanseria Airport towards the dam. We then hung a right at the T-Junction
where we joined the back road from Harties to Sandton. We followed Main Road
extension to 'Diepsloot" corner where we turned left past Knoppieslaagte.
We
joined up with the old Pretoria Road after crossing over the M1. At the Mint
we turned right and a quick left where we arrived at 'The Chef and the Fat
Man'. In one of the photo's included you may be able to recognize the 'Fat
man' although he has lost a little weight since his accident.
Friendly staff were overwhelmed by hungry, thirsty bikers and were running
mad trying to get the drinks orders out. The food was tasty when it arrived, but
the influx of customers took it's toll as it was a long wait for some of us.
Fortunately we had no grumpy bikers on this ride as Dean Wegger could not
make it as his bike was in for repairs.
Another great Sunday ride. Thanks Karl, well executed.
Until the next ride, take care. Hoping to see a bunch of you on the Hippo Rally this
Friday? Ride safe, drink neat water on the way and then chase it with
Whiskey when you get there. I'll see you through the bottom of my empty
glass.
FYI :
A new study by the American Medical Association shows that having sex does
not trigger a heart attack - it's getting caught having sex that triggers
the heart attack."
