A legend embodies passion. A legend has depth, character and integrity. A legend is adored by many, worshipped by some, and respected by all.

A legend changes the way you live, inspires and frees you. A legend waits until the moment comes when you call upon it to shape your future. Until the moment you decide: LET'S RIDE!

BREAKFAST RUN 29 AUGUST 2010

Sunday 29nd August ’10
Steak Masters Restaurant, Heidelberg

The Breakfast Run this Sunday (29th August 2010) was to the Steak Masters Restaurant in Heidelberg.

We had a wonderful attendance of 48 bikes for the sunny and warm 125 km trip.

  • Pacesetter : Dennis
  • Leader of the Pack : Kevin
  • Sweep : Vince the Prince
  • Roving Marshal : Al
  • Biker Buddies : Richard and Terry

The large pack rode smoothly with no hiccups. The only gripe (as usual) is that a few riders are still not checking their mirrors to allow the Marshals to pass safely. Otherwise it would have been perfect. The weather was great and it is evident that winter is behind us again.

Unfortunately about half a kilometre from the venue Eric's clutch cable snapped. Because of the amazing camaraderie in our Club, and the loyalty of some of its members, he was immediately assisted by a friendly support team, namely Johan Prinsloo, Andre Kruger, Dennis and Dot and Peter Prinsloo. We have been informed that even a Hops beverage was supplied. Talk about service with a smile! Thanks so much guys. You are simply the best and we are incredibly lucky to have you in our Club and to be able to call your our mates. I am sure Eric was very relieved you were there to help out. It was great to see all the probationary marshals attending the ride with such enthusiasm too.

The buffet breakfast as advertised in the weekly newsletter - consisting of bacon, 2 eggs, toast, cocktail beef sausages, hashbrowns, russians and a pattie - never materialized, much to Dennis's abject horror again. Don't worry Dennis, we (the sensible ones) know that the various restaurant managers make promises they rarely keep. When the substitute breakfasts arrived 15 minutes later - they were really good, substantial, hot and yummy. So I am sure that all those grumpy-pants riders who had so much to say and rushed off having little "iffy" fits, were the biggest losers in the end.

A couple of the riders had chosen to order off the menu and had toasted sandwiches and roasted chickens etc. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and is under a thatched lapa, and is probably only one of a few restaurants in Heidelberg with two "OUT-houses" servicing its customers.

The route went down South Road, Marlboro Drive, N3, N12 passed the airport, R25, Bapsfontein, Delmas Road, right into Pretoria Road, R44, Snake Road, M45, R23, Louw Jacobs, Voortrekker and a left into Strydom. If it wasn't for Andre the pack would have followed Steel Wings in the wrong direction right from the start, just after leaving the dealership.

Note to self - pay attention at the marshal's briefing in future and then you would have realized that the direction the Steel Wings riders were going in was totally wrong and not the route discussed at the briefing???? AMEN.

Ride hard and ride safe.

Catch you on the road next time.

PS: A man walks into a psychiatrist's wearing only clingfilm for shorts. The psychiatrist says, "Well, I can clearly see you're nuts."

PPS: Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt.
